Miracles of our Prophet Muḥammad
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم
Praise be to God the Creator of the world, the One Who exists without beginning, without end, without location , without a “how” and Who does not depend on time. Nothing resembles Him in anyway and He hears and sees everything without organs. Whatever you imagine, God is different from that. May the elevation in degree and preservation of his community of what he fears for it, be granted to our master Muḥammad Al-‘Amin, the Honest One, who called for following Islam, the religion of truth, the religion of all the Prophets: of the First, Adam, to the last Muḥammad.
Among the thousands of Miracles of our Prophet Muḥammad peace be upon Him.
Imam AHmad and Al-Bayhaqiyy narrated with the ṣaḥīḥ chain of narration from the route of Ya`la Ibnu Murrah ath-Thaqafiyy ( يَعْلَى بن مُرّةَ الثَّقَفِيّ ) that he said « Once while we were walking with the Prophet, Sallallâhu `alayhi wa sallam, a camel carrying water passed by us. When the camel saw the Prophet, Sallallâhu `alayhi wa sallam, it made a sound from its throat and lowered its neck. The Prophet, Sallallâhu `alayhi wa sallam, stopped by the camel and said « Where is the owner of this camel? » The owner arrived. The Prophet said « Sell it to me. » The owner said « We would rather give it to you as a gift, O Prophet of Allâh, although we are a family whose only way of earning a living is by working with this camel. » The Prophet said « Then I would not take it. But the camel complained to me that you made it work a lot and you do not give it enough food. So treat this camel in the proper way. »
Among the miracles of the Prophet, Sallallâhu `alayhi wa sallam, and the best Miracle that can still be seen today, is the miracle of the Holy Qur’ân, The Qur’ân is a miracle which stands as proof of the truthfulness of our Master Muḥammad, Sallallâhu `alayhi wa sallam, and that he was a Prophet sent by Allâh.
Allâh the exalted preserved the Holy Qur’ân from being perverted, Allâh said in the Qur’ân:
﴿ إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ ﴾
Verse 9 of Surat al-Hijr means that Allâh revealed the Qur’ân and Allâh will preserve it. All of the Qur’ân is preserved until the Day of Judgment, the verses and the judgments of the Qur’ân do not contradict one another, rather they agree with one another. Moreover, Allâh ta`âlâ has revealed the Qur’ân with verses (âyat) of clear meanings, while other verses have many meanings according to the rules of the Arabic language. Some people would read the Qur’ân and misunderstand the meanings of the verses because of their ignorance in the religion, while others are guided to the true and valid interpretations and meanings.
Allâh ta`âlâ revealed to Prophet Muḥammad, Sallallâhu `alayhi wa sallam, that no one can author something similar to the Holy Qur’ân, and Allâh ta`âlâ ordered Prophet Muḥammad to challenge the blasphemers. So Prophet Muḥammad challenged the blasphemers in his time to author something similar and as eloquent as even the shortest surah( chapter) in The Holy Qur’ân, even if they come together and put together their efforts towards this. He told them that they would not be able to do so. He showed them their powerlessness in doing so. And all of them were very eloquent and knowledgeable about the Arabic language. Despite that they were all unable to author something similar.
The one who has knowledge in the Arabic language can identify this matter easily. He can identify that The Qur’ân is more eloquent than anything he ever heard or would hear. The one who does not know Arabic language can deduce from the fact that the very eloquent people in the Prophet’s time were unable to produce something similar to even the shortest surah.
Al-Bayhaqiyy and others narrated that Jubayr ibnu Mut`im (جُبَيْرُ بنُ مُطْعِم) said « I came to the Prophet while I was still a blasphemer for a worldly matter. I heard him reciting Surat At-Tur ( الطُّور ). I felt that my heart was going to fly. » Jubayr was extremely overwhelmed and then he embraced Islam. He knew that this is something not authored by any human. Especially that the style of Al-Qur’an is a unique style. It is not like any style that the Arabs used to speak or use. It is not poetry, nor was it the style of the preachers or speakers. It was not the style they used to praise or dispraise, to describe or to encourage or to discourage, to discuss or dispute, to order or to prohibit. It is a unique style.
In the end , we ask Allâh to keep us guided on Islam, make our ending on Islam and Allâh knows Best.
